The Jump is becoming must watch TV.
Who will be next and why?
Some of the contestants are obviously nervous and have to force themselves to take part. With this mind set I think an accident is more likely. You need a certain amount of confidence - not just dumb hold on and hope for the best luck.
What next celebrity Rollerball?

I'm not sure on the technicalities of these types of show in terms of safety requirements (I include the likes of Wipeout and the new Getaway Car alongside the Jump). They all seem to high risk 'gameshows' and they all seem to take place in a slightly obscure country - is this a getout of jail free card in terms of H&S?
Don't get me wrong, I do actually quite enjoy these shows but it's obvious that the potential for injury is high. The injury to Tina Hobley on the Jump was perhaps most blatantly down to bad practice as the injury occurred as she landed from a jump and had to swerve to avoid crashing into someody casually trotting across the slope. Surely this is down to basic common sense and setting basic H&S protocols. Maybe they are under tight time deadlines to cram as many practices in as possible or maybe, being celebrities, means they consider themselves immune from the nasty H&S killjoys and potential pitfalls.
It's hard to have too much sympathy for some of them but I do think that somebody needs to be held responsibe for some pretty shoddy work. Having said all of that I'd love to give all of the events a go myself :-)
