Hi All,
I had an unfortunate incident onsite on Friday 5th Feb. The following Monday(8th) the staff member went to doctors and received some painkillers and self certified for the rest of the week.(advised not to drive etc) Staff member phoned in on Friday 12th to say they were feeling better and will return on Monday the 15th. The complete period until the 15th is over 7 days.
As he phoned on day 7 to say he was better is this reportable? Obviously I need to speak to the staff member to clarify, but it would appear he was not incapacitated for longer than 7 days. It's just the fact it was the weekend he didn't return to work. Or does that not matter? Wondered what advice others could give?

Thanks in advance!

I would say not reportable as not over 7 days from the info he has given. He phoned on day 7 saying he was better so in essence he would have been fit to work the following day (Saturday) had he been required to work. Just make sure he is fit to carry out his role on the Monday and if no adjusted duties then also no need to report. I think it is covered pretty well in the HSE guidance.
