Has anyone had experience of dealing with bed bugs?

We have a crew overseas where one of the beds has been riddled with bed bugs.

Would it be advisable to get everyone out and into new accommodation?

Some of the bites look savage

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Get pest control in, If you move them anything they take with them coiuld have them in and all your doing is transferring them and creating a bigger problem.

Many thanks for the quick response; my concern is these guy are getting hammered bite wise.
One of them is severely bitten and I'm worried about the effects on their health both physically; and mentally.

Trying to sleep must be murder; I was having nightmares just having seen pictures ! To be in a place where its actually kicking off...

Pest Controllers are the best course of action- they can supply foggers etc that will kill off bed bugs, then bedding etc will need to be washed and the room cleaned to remove eggs etc.

Pest control might not be so great overseas! Depending where overseas!

Fortunately I don't think bed bugs are known vectors for any major disease like mosquito's. It tends to be an allergic reaction to the bites. (been over 30 years since I studied zoology so I don't mind being corrected!)

Also think about these people coming home and if they may bring the little biters back! If they have suit cases in their room they may "hide" in the "cracks" around the edges of the suitcase.

I am told the bites can be very uncomfortable even if you don't get an allergic reaction so if these people were my staff I would be looking for new accommodation yes.

Overseas you probably can't get access to foggers depending on were you are of course. Do it yourself isn't always the bast way as you need to ensure that you are getting into all the cracks and crevices, especially with suit cases because otherwise you will being them home.

Pest Controllers know their stuff and can give the best possible advice. Supplies are available in most places, if you are offshore, you could consider getting supplies included on a usual supply trip? My other half is a pest controller if you want to pm me he might be able to give a bit more advice.
