Hi all,
Its my understanding that notice boards should be enclosed and pigeon holes are metal and lockable rather than wooden and open, in both instance to negate the risk of arson.
However I am being faced with a "that's not a risk here" attitude. Aside from arson does anyone have any other tangible reasons why the above are best practice.
Thanks guys.

What is the environment, is it an office or a tower block?
I don't consider wooden pigeon holes to be a arson risk in an office environment or should I say my office environment, normally they are inside to stop post going missing so it would be employees who would set them on fire.
Is this Fire Safety going the way H&S has, conkers bonkers?

Our notice boards were enclosed at my previous place- noting to do with the risk of arson. It was to stop people posing personal notices or drawing moustaches (and other things I can't mention here) on the photos of 'key people'.
We had a separate notice board for personal notices.
There are no lockable ones here- they won't pay- and H&S info has been taken off and chucked in the bin so someone can put a flyer up for a circus. Ho hum.

It could be likened to an office environment but with more potential for folk to be disgruntled and thus malicious. Hence the concern regarding arson, of course in a "normal" office environment I'd agree, very low risk and would be over zealous to suggest otherwise, yes very Conker Bonkers !! :)
Normally I would only apply this in common areas in residential blocks of flats etc.
