Hi,
can anyone tell me a ladder stability device provider whose equipment is CE marked please? I've tried 3 suppliers, all with a good range of equipment, but the instant I ask for CE marking I never get e reply or follow up call.
I can't be the only H&S practitioner to have walked this path surely
Any advice appreciated

It's work equipment, I haven't been told (before now) why a stability device for a ladder wouldnt want CE marking. In fact from the beginning of my safety career it's been drilled in 'check its CE marked'.

Adale,
Perhaps you had better go around & check that all the 13A 3 pin plugs on all your electrical equipment are CE marked, and if not perhaps they should be quarantined not to be used?
So maybe you need to shut the whole company down until you get to the bottom of it.

The only conceivable directive that might apply would be machinery. I doubt that would apply. Not all work equipment needs a ce mark.

Not really sure why you answered in this fashion, the poster explained that that was thier understanding. Perhaps a no not everything needs to be CE marked, would of been more apt.

He was making the point to the OP that "everything" is not CE marked
OP: CE marks show the item complies to relevant EEC directives. If there are no directive there is no requirement to mark.
IMHO; even if there is a requirement, the mark on its own gives zero proof and is thus worthless anyway.

Incidentally, It's my understanding that ladders and edge protection systems designed to be permanent features on buildings DO need to be CE marked. This would be captured by the Construction Products Directive?

EN ISO 14122-3:2001 Safety of machinery - Permanent means of access to machinery - Part 3: Stairs, stepladders and guard-rails (ISO 14122-3:2001)
EN ISO 14122-4:2004 Safety of machinery - Permanent means of access to machinery - Part 4: Fixed ladders (ISO 14122-4:2004)
EN 14043:2014 High rise aerial appliances for fire and rescue service use - Turntable ladders with combined movements - Safety and performance requirements and test methods
EN 14044:2014 High rise aerial appliances for fire and rescue service use - Turntable ladders with sequential movements - Safety and performance requirements and test methods
Under the Construction Products Regulation (Directive was superseded in 2013) two references that require mandatory CE marking:
EN 12951:2004 Prefabricated accessories for roofing - Permanently fixed roof ladders - Product specification and test methods
EN 14396:2004 Fixed ladders for manholes
So regarding the OP question there is no mandatory CE marking for ladder stability devices
