Hi all,
I have a bit of a dilemma regarding training. I'm due to deliver training for the 1st time at my new company as part of new staff orientation day. I have delivered training before however at this place I'm only given a 25 minute slot, whereas I'm used to at least an hour or 90 mins.
Essentially I dont want to just bullet point information as that's boring for me and those participating but am concerned about how I can deliver something decent and informative in that allocated times.
Does anyone have any ideas about topics to cover (its for a Uni) ways to make it engaging or any example presentations?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

a 25 minute slot within a staff awareness day is not by any stretch "training."
You'd do well to cover fire safety, housekeeping standards and availability of Risk Assessments for significant activities across all Departments.
Introduce yourself and cover your role, and your expectations of those you work with.
Keep it light and use lots of pictures.

I agree this is not really training, but an opportunity to introduce yourself and run over some key things as part of an induction.
It would be good to pinpoint further training perhaps and highlight where you are and how you can be contacted, and also any H&S meetings, etc. that you would like to invite them to

Hi
I work in a Uni too, each year for staff training I have to bring something for 20 Mins. This year I took a small section of a topic on housekeeping. I got staff to go round the halls of residence and collect all shoes and anything left on the corridors. Then they thought I had put them in a smoke filled corridor in which I asked them to walk through. (I had really put them in a bedroom on that corridor). But we had fun. Now residential staff ask students to keep corridors clean reducing trip hazards.
In the past I have done the evacuation chair, and got staff to have a go.
I have done the importance of hand washing ( especially during first term when illness flood the halls of residence) I have borrowed equipment to show staff how who have not washed properly.
I done epidemiological studies and presented PowerPoint graphs.
I have even done a quiz.
