Not strictly H&S but can somebody enlighten me with regard to my scenario and the need for a waste transfer note.

We are an electrical installation company working for a large construction company carrying out electrical re-wires to domestic properties.

Upon completion of work a couple bags of mixed waste is normally generated which the lads put in the back of their vans and bring back to the skip in the yard at head office.

Our client is asking that our lads complete a waste transfer note, for each property, for every journey from the place where the work was done to our yard? Is this really necessary?

You can argue whether it is necessary or not until the cows come home. However, its not a massive undertaking. If that's is what your client wants, is it worth losing the contract over?

You are carrying your own waste and should have a lower tier licence to do so (free at moment). However as it is your own waste only, you do not need a note.
