I am currently working as an Advisor for a very well known organization, overseeing an outage on a power station. They have very skilled and intelligent employees and I have built a good rapport with them. We have excellent statistics since my time here and things are going very well, however, there are people who's attitudes towards safety are negative and they are firmly stuck in their ways. At the site, we have incentive schemes to reward people for implementing good practice but I understand after carrying out research and coming to my own conclusions that this is not a way to improve HSE or peoples attitudes towards it. I am very interested in the deeper lying factors that create the bad image for safety and I would very much like to ramp up the companies training procedures and steer it more in the direction of better more interactive training on induction days. I would also like to run some courses during the day to instill behavioral safety into the workforce. I understand that this is a long process that will take patience and commitment but I have the full support of the management to roll out what ever I see fit and to be creative with it. So the question is..
Does anybody have any power points or interesting sessions I could use for this? Even some guidance and inspiration on this matter from somebody with a better experience would be very much appreciated?

Hi
We have just implemented a Behavior Safety Program based around positive reinforcement. The biggest problem is that most people only see a Manager when they have done something wrong, so part of the process enforces positive safety behavior be it a simple well done during a safety tour or a one to one chat with their Manager. This will also introduce positive peer pressure.
Should something go wrong / accident etc the process looks at why someone did what they did what would be the positive reasons for someone to not follow a SSOW from their point of view and by understanding that will identify what behavior to change. PM me if you want to chat some more.
