I am not familiar with EPA GC MS test methods and regulations. Are EPA test methods validated (linearity, accuracy, specificity and robustness etc.)? One of our contract lab is testing samples using METHOD 8260B (GC MS) test method but we don't know if they are using the same parameters every time they analyze the samples. Would it be possible for them to use different parameters every time which could lead variations in the results?

You should ensure that the lab you're using is UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. One of the requirements is the validity of results including validation of methods.

I'm guessing that EPA in this case stands for Enviromental Protection Agency. Have you got the right forum?
