Keen to be involved in being a project marker for NGC 3, NEBOSH handed me a Mock Script to mark. Having failed to reach the NEBOSH marking criteria, I was told to attend a workshop for Markers. During the workshop, all the markers had to complete a marking exercise. Strangely, none of the markers managed to get similar marks, let alone within the stipulated 5% margin of error.

Nonetheless, fully equipped with the training, I continued to mark NGC3 Practicals. Recently I wanted to mark EC2 practical papers. Yet again NEBOSH handed me a Mock Script to complete. After submission, I was told I "did not meet the marking criteria and therefore will need to attend a training workshop & must complete a marking exercise". I can see a similar theme repeated to mark FC2.

Does anyone else have a similar experience, or is it me?

Oh yes, that's how NEBOSH operate. What they don't (and should do, IMHO) is give examples of a 60%, 70% 80% etc script, stating how they scored them. Their guide, whilst useful, requires you to constantly flick backwards and forwards between different parts of the doc, making it difficult to use. Their "workshops" are OK but are going to be replaced by something online, I believe.
