On a recent site visit , I noticed that some warehouse pallet racking is only secured into the floor with one bolt, although there are two holes for this. The racking installer has told us it only needs one bolt to secure to the floor. I have not seen this at any other site, when they have two holes or more these are always used to secure the racking at floor level Would be interested in what others think, have experience of? Many Thanks

Hi Bill We've looked at this recently with our racking provider (9 pallet height) and this is industry standard for centre aisle racking. End aisles have at least two bolts per leg. This is from SEMA Code of Practice for Static Pallet Racking provides more information... we got a free copy of this 47 page document from their website (www.sema.co.uk). Naturally, most installers will affix double bolts if you want, though this will come at a small price. Hope that this makes sense Pete

Hi, The need for one or two securing bolts depends on the weight of the bay. A second floor fixing offers more stability and therefore helps increase the capacity a little. So the floor fixing should be worked out in accordance to the customers specification with regards SWL's and actually racking specification. I hope this is of help, Kieran
