Does anyone have access to the above to give me the precise wording of the clauses relating to the dimensions of Disabled Parking Bays and Hatching locations? I have read a summary of it which suggests it is different to Part M of the Building Regs

All the precise wording in BS8300:2009 would be too much to cut and paste here as there are slight differences in criteria depending on where the bays are located, spread over about 5 pages of text. However if it is any good the general dimensions given are as follows:
On street parking bays should be 6600mm x 3600mm with dropped kerb access
Off street parking bays should be 2400mm x 4800mm with 1200mm at the rear for boot access and 1200mm between the parking bays where there are two or more together.
For garaged/covered spaces the measurements are 4200mm x 5700mm
The measurements are given in figure 1 (page 9) and figure 2 (page 11) and figure 4 (page 13)
Hope this helps

Just looked at the copy of Part M that I have and it suggests parking bays should be 2400mm x 4800mm with 1200mm at the rear and 1200mm to the sides for access. This would indicated that the two documents are largely the same. The hatching in both documents is shown around the vehicle bay.

Many thanks
I was reading a summary produced by the British Parking Association and the Disabled Motorist Association. They are saying that there is a need only on one side but they do not quote from the standard. Yes I know there are differences whether the bays are parallel, angled or perpendicular to the traffic flow route. It is important as BPA member companies are tending to place disabled and normal bays on the same rank but NOT placing a 1200mm zone between a standard bay and an adjoining disabled bay and are claiming to be compliant to the BS, albeit as they are précising the standard it appears.
