Hi All, I have a query regarding scaffolding and temporary works. I am currently working on a CDM site which has a large number of scaffolding erected. Is it a requirement for every scaffold regardless the size to be registered on the temporary works register or is it only for the scaffolds which are to be used as enabling works to the permanent structure which is getting erected. Any help would be much appreciated guys

Hi, Please see BS 5975:2008 Code of Practice for Temporary Works Procedures All temporary works parts of the works that allow or enable construction of, protect, support or provide access to, the permanent works and which might or might not remain in place at the completion of the works NOTE Examples of temporary works are structures, supports, back-propping, earthworks and accesses. By definition Scaffolding would also fall under this definition. Best Regards Steve

All scaffold will come under the heading temporary works. If there are several pieces erected over the site, I would for number and record the the relevant sections for ease of recording.
