I have looked, but, not being sure where to look doesn't help. Is it possible to check if an employer has reported an injury under RIDDOR, it was definitely reportable, break of a major bone > 3 days in hospital, > 6 months off work by the injured party. Just curious if it is possible to check if it was reported.

Paul There is no online system as far as I know. HSE and Local Authorities can check, but I have heard through the grapevine that they may want you to make a "freedom of information request" and could claim data protection to some items - depends who's accident it is I guess.

Paul, As RIDDOR reports contain personal data about the IP and the person reporting, any request could only be made to the HSE by the IP and it would have to be a 'data subject request' and not a request under the FOIA. A request for this sort of information is an 'exempt' request under FOIA, which means the HSE does not have to comply with the request. I hope this helps. Regards. DJ
