Well i guess when you get 10,000 screaming and Drunk teenagers in a festival, i'm guessing 200 is not that much, but we need to see exactly what injuries were. Being Drunk is not an injury in its own right.
You need to remember when intoxicated people tend to make matters worst in terms of injuries, they could have a blister on their foot and make it sound like their leg is about to fall off.
I'm guessing probably apart from being drunk or under the influence of Drugs the only real injury you could sustain is either Hearing Injury because of the load music or Manual Handling injuries because of all the stuff you carry from cases of beer to boxes of camping equipment and rucksacks

Gerry,
Yes I expect all that, and a lot of slip and trip injuries too. I just wonder what the organiser's H&S manager is obliged to do to minimise risks. Not quite the same as a football stadium but surely 200 injuries should be ringing some alarm bells?

From the BBC report it appears most of the injuries emanated from drinking too much and I suspect were minor first aid jobbies. I really can't really get too excited about a bunch of self-inflicted injuries caused by people 'enjoying' themselves.

Its a bit of a lazy headline really. As someone who faces these sorts of things every day i would guess that this is 200 treatments rather than injuries. And out of an audience of 90,000 isn't that bad really. A treatment can be anything from a wasp sting (extremely prevalent at this time of year), blisters, dust in the eyes (been pretty windy the last few days), sunburn, and a whole host of minor medical reasons. This would probably make up 70-80% of the total. People who would normally treat themselves for a wasp sting will present at first aid/medical facilities because they have gone to the event pretty unprepared.
Intoxication can include drink or substance misuse and there are some pretty nasty substances out there that folk find a way of incapacitating themselves with. Young people on the razzle tend to be more prone to tripping over their own feet than anything the organiser failed to do. I know that a huge amount of effort goes into ensuring that the event site is scrutinised in fine detail to remove the worst of the hazards created when building a small town in a confined greenfield space.
