I'm looking for a course based in the North East of England re Principal Designer responsibilities since the changes to the regs in 2015. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Have you tried the APS Association of Project Safety?

I've attended both the CITB and APS courses, IMO the APS course was much better and on point for covering Principal Designer responsibilities. The CITB course totally failed to deliver its objectives, the trainers references were all related to the domestic market and he didn't understand the PD role or duties. Nothing relevant covered for a room full or architects, designers, engineers etc. Disappointing experience overall.
It was early doors soon after the Regs came into force so the course may have since improved.

Have to agree with TJA as regards CITB.
Their PD course was more aimed at small jobbing builders. What the course leader considered to be 'design' often amounted to sensibible work organisation/construction sequence. However, I do recognise that there is often a narrow dividing line between what is 'design' and what is a construction sequence issue.
Overall, CITB could do better with this course. I consider I learned very little from the course.

In the meantime, the APS has produced a Principal Designers Handbook which may be worth a squizz (circa £25).
