As best as my knowledge and ability allows, I am trying to take proactive steps to comply with The Electromagnetic Fields at Work 2016 (CEMFAW). I have read the HSE guidance HSG281, which I believe falls short in some key areas. I also have the three European Commission volumes (the Practical Guide, Case Studies and Guide for SMEs), which add up to 349 pages and is all very good comprehensive stuff if all you do are EMF assessments all day long, but is hard to take in for lesser mortals. To be honest I can't really use HSG281 without also using the EC guides and the EC guide flow charts. In fact it is flow chart mad and it is driving me mad too. I've asked distributors and suppliers for information regarding various pieces of EMF generating kit we have and they seem just as perplexed. Most have sent me information and results on how they carried our EMC testing. It may be possible to convert some EMC data into a form that can be used for EMF assessments but I am struggling with the physics of this, on the verge of giving up and calling in consultants for EMF measurements. Can any one recommend a quality EMF course to bridge my understanding of this please?

Hi David, There is a thread discussing this on the forums. http://forum.iosh.co.uk/...spx?g=posts&t=121402 What type of process are you using that is creating the EMF - if it is welding have a look at the Welding Institutes body of work on this topic. HTH Stuart
