I'm just trying to gauge thoughts, opinions and views from members with respect to a new Network I was thinking of putting forward to HQ, in line with some aims I outlined as part of my Council statement.
I would like to see IOSH have a dedicated 'Young Professionals/Early Career Network' in a similar manner to some of the other large UK professional institutions, for example IChem, IET, Nuclear Institute, CIEH etc.
My thinking is that all new members of IOSH who are lets say below Grad IOSH (just for example!) or members of a certain age (lets say <30 for arguments sake) would automatically be entered into such a network, where they would receive tailored information with respect to career development, IOSH grade progression, specific events and webinars all aimed at early careers or those going through progression. I would like to think the network would conduct visits, lead talks and seminars and also attend careers events at schools and colleges.
With IOSH wanting to see H&S as a first career and also try to inspire the next generation of H&S professional, I struggle to see how we can achieve such without having some sort of network or dedicated group. I really would welcome your thoughts and do feel free to pan it! It won't get going if it isn't seen as being required so now's the time to test the water.
Best wishes
Jamie
