Hi Guys im a newbie to the forum so please be gentle.......

My Company is currently looking into getting OHSAS18001  to accompany our 9001 and 14001.

We have 2 seperate locations within the uk and both operate the same way.

Our current Accreditations require us to be individually accredited for both locations.

For 18001 do we require both locations accredited or can both sites be done under an umbrella ?

So the "Company" is accredited rather than individual site ??

Thanks

Richard

They can be done together. The cost is the factor

Yes and no.

You are correct that the management system is accredited rather than each site.  But each site will be audited for compliance to internal procedures and to the standard nontheless.

Scope will also be a factor as each site will be listed for a particular scope within the certification - even if all the processes are identical.

Hope this clarifies things.

The OHSAS18001 audit can be done at the main site and what usually happens is that the certification body will put together an audit plan, covering sites (as sample sites).  However, initially there will need to be visits to determine legal compliance - so this may take you to both of your sites.

They will have to visit the other site but the answer is still 'yes' they can be done together.

We have mult-sites but have agreed with the verification body to audit sites through random sampling. To determine this we looked at our risk assessments to see which had significant risks, e.g. based on the number of accidents, corrective actions raised, tasks being carried out, etc.
