Just had a conversation with a colleague about a press article highlighting the possible health risks to football players whilst playing on artifical, rubber crumb football/sports pitches. Whilst I am always wary of press stories relating ot H&S, does anyone know if there have been any authoritative studies in this country on the toxicology and health risks associated with playing on these types of pitch? Is there a justifiable cause for concern or is there an element of urban myth about the issue? Your views would be welcome, especially if you are more clued up on the issue than me.

(I'm posting this again as it didn't seem to go through the first time I posted it - apologies if it appears twice on the forum pages??)

I know we have discussed this earlier this year but the search function or post history seems to have gone adrift.
Think the summary was no real "science" behind this topic at present just a lot of anecdotal summation inititated in the US
As it says in the title "health fears"

Thanks for the link. I do now actually recall reading the thread when it first appeared, but more for the deviation from the main thread and quotes about the association between anecdotes and data than the issue about toxic pitches. Thanks again.
