I work in the manufacturing sector and I am looking into crane training on an electric overhead travelling crane (pendant controlled) and I am wondering if LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) is an acceptable accreditation with regards to training. There are many training providers all providing different accredited training i.e. ITSSAR, NPORS, CPCS etc which I have come accross befor but not LEEA?

I have visited their website and researched their training etc, but I am still not sure of the level of accreditation.

If anyone can shed any light that would be great.

This is very like Fork Lift Trucks, where there is no 'licence' and the onus is put on the employer to use appropriate training. This can be in-house, although in the event of an accident and HSE investigation, you would be required to prove that your training was sufficient. That is why the accredited training route is good, as it give some independance to the 'pass'.
