Hi,

I have recently undertaken a project implementing a HS policy and culture in a small company that manufacture "Vape Juices" for electronic cigarettes. Im aware that there are some grey area's surrounding vaping and current legislations with regards to vaping inside workplaces but my biggest concern at the moment is that there is no classification for the manufacture of these goods. Considering that a large percentage of the ingredients for these liquids come from the food preperation industry would it be a safe bet to follow food manufacturing guidelines as a basis for the policy?

I hope this ramble makes some kind of sense! Thanks for reading and i look forward to your feedback.

Do you mean H&S policy for the workforce or are you asking what standards you should be applying for the manufacture of these products?

Short answer no - you aren't manufacturing food.

If anything you are / should be looking at medicinal products for your guidance (give WHO etc. chance and this will be your industry).

You will likely be working with concentrates which could be more hazardous than the "off the shelf" proprietary substances and mixtures.

ECHA is currently discussing CLH (Harmonised Classification and Labelling) for Nicotine - other substances and mixtures will also carry hazard classification

As the manufacturer you will need to classify your finished products and adequately label according to CLP.

Dont see any hazard labelling on a Gregg's pasty (some will argue there should be) ;-)

From my point of view I would see your process as being the mixing of various chemicals.  In view of this COSHH and risk assessments should form a key part of your health and safety programme.

Probably worth looking at the trade association code of conduct ( ECITA )

And PAS 54115:2015 published by BSi. http://shop.bsigroup.com/ProductDetail/?pid=000000000030303130

One orgaisation to avoid is the WHO who are well known for spreading harmful disinformation about vaping -
