Hi Im at a large College complex and we have a number of toilets used by staff and pupils, one of the cubicals in each toliet is larger than the others and is fitted with disability rails and has a wider door so that it can be used by wheel chair users. Is there a requirment to have an emergency assistance pull cord in these toilets?

You can pull the alarm cord for assistance (assuming there is one and you can reach it) and hope that there is someone monitoring the alarm.
Seems not a requirement and if you do fit one you should have someone at the other end.

Just spoke with one of our surveyors who specialises in DDA on our University estate. There is no requirement to have a pull cord fitted in an ambulant cubicle. This is detailed in BS 8300.

On the basis that disabled/accessible toilets are for both ambulant and non ambulant persons then the pull cord is a requirement in a disabled/accessible toilet, see part M building regs volume 2
