A company, who has a very good safety record, asked for ways they could publicise/advertise their record , externally, and get noticed for it. Personally I would be reluctant to advertise as the moment you do , that halo has a habit of falling from your head to your ankles and trip you up!

Regardless of the motivation for this exercise, I however, started thinking about it. I could not come up with many options other than -  Board at Factory Entrance - showing e.g. Days since last LTA, Obtain 18001 accrediation (they have already).talk at IOSH Branch meetings,...

Any suggestions?

They could contact the editor of the IOSH magazine and see if they are interested in an article looking at how it was achieved, lesson learnt, initiatives etc.

I think it's a good thing as often we only hear the negatives or the silly H&S stuff.

I suppose it partly depends on what is the purpose of 'advertising' the organisation's good safety performance. Is it to woo potential clients, to impress shareholders, increase their bonuses? Personally I am loathe to go down this route. Would they advertise the fact they just had a fatallity or an Enforcement Notice...? I would definately not advertise the amount of day or hours without a LTA or Riddor, there is only one outcome with this scenario.

Some years ago, I did some work for an organisation that had their faultless LTI record put in diaries to be handed out. Guess what? Soon after they had them printed, an LTI happened. The result was a useless stock of diaries they couldn't give to anyone. Needless to say, the person who had the accident was as popular as a hole in the head.

I'd only go as far as an editable notice at the entrance.

I'm with Ray on this. I detest those notices explaining how long it's been since last LTI. Recipe for covering up incidents and impact on morale when an incident is so severe that it can't be covered up.
