Hi All,

I need to create a safety training package for an office team responsible for allocating work out to field engineers.  As the office team are the ones allocating work they are essentially the first line of defence to ensure work is completed safely as they choose who does the work and when.  The primary focus is around ensuring the health and safety of the engineers when work is allocated covering things such as driving times, working times, lone working, engineer skill set and qualifications.

I have created a presentation to deliver, but I am thinking I may have missed something.

Does anyone have any past presentations or supporting materials/activities that they would be happy to share?

Does anyone have any ideas on what they would include in this type of training?

Any help/ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

I'm happy to look over the presentation and offer my opinion if that helps?

Hi Mark,

Have you included the importance of allocating tasks and completing them safely? i.e. not just from a moral perspective but from a legal and cost perspective.

Perhaps by giving an overview of the HASAWA 19754, Management Regs and also some case laws i.e. Wilson and Clyde Coal v English etc. Maybe even some videos of what happens when things go wrong. I always find it useful to explain to individuals the importance of looking after indiviudals etc.

If they dont already see copies it might even be worth showing them some of the RAMS in place, lone working escalation process etc. that you may have it could give them a chance to comment and provide feedback?

I am also happy to have a look and comment if you wish.

Kind regards,

Georgia

I suggest giving them a representative task - here are the jobs that are needed, these are the engineers and what they are already doing, how can you best allocate the jobs?  That way they get to think things through and apply the principles you have explained.
