Working Off Site - away from 'normal' workplace

Hi,
Currently looking at how we manage and control work at an off site location ie a host site for a wide range of works from simple meetings to higher risk activities that may involve WAH for example. Interested to hear if anyone has a policy/ how others manage this?
This obviosuly covers a raft of things inculding travel to and from the workplace as business travel and the activity itself. Interested to hear how others have gone about this in terms of work control.

This type of transient working may involve a number of policies e.g. lone working, road use, working at height, fist aid, etc. You could have a specific policy for transient working which would focus on the main risks associated with the expected tasks.

Hi, Yeah we have had to look at this recently also. We currently only have a Lone Working policy with associated risk assessments but have also been advised that we may need to have a seperate Emergency Procdure document for staff who are working off site or within another jurisdiction!! I did challenge the aduitor on the emergency procedure but as its an activity we regularly do they are insisting we generate a document for emergency procedures off site (apparently ring 999 wasnt enough!!)

Emergency considerations are probably the most overlooked especially with truly mobile operatives: 1) How close is the nearest operational A&E (affects FAAW assessment) or other emergency health provision e.g. walk in centre 2) Contact numbers - local constabulary, Local Authority Environmental Heatlth, Environment Agency, Utility companies (gas, electricity, water/effluent), HSE office as these may be different Communications - do company supplied devices work at the location or is an alternative providers SIM required?
