Can anyone give me the testing rate of the emergency assistance call buttons. I have said daily, but I am only taking this from regimes I have mananged in the past, prisons and mental helth. The reson I have said daily is that the most it could be out of action is 24 hours. I have been told this is to often and regularly is all is that is required.

Does anyone have any definitive information on this as a requirement.

If I am forced I will write in the risk assessment daily. Always more ways to skin a cat.

I'm afraid that I can only find quarterly checks on panic alarms/buttons. If you are talking about hospital bed patient alarms then I would state that they are checked each time when a patient is admitted or when the beds are redressed. In prisons if you are talking about inmate initiated alarms I would probably be looking at daily checks due to the nature of extreme violence and behaviour issues. Please note that I am stating the above opinions based upon personal research and the likely hood of damage not only from digital failure but also intended neglect. Regards

I would imagine that the Nursing home call assist buttons are usually checked daily, surely the patients would be pressing them for the nurse to call ? As they are offen encouraged to use this when the Nurse/Carer is out the room.

To follow up from Garys post perhap a check could be carried out once that patient leaves and perhaps a weekly tick list and report hightling all operational buttons and those that need maintainace or repairs.

Do you currently have a system in place for Leads that do not work ?? Replacements? or calling out the engineer/electrician ?

thanks 1 user thanked gerrysharpe for this useful post.
