Some advice please. I will keep it brief. We have had a noise survey carried out and i is recorded a 85dBA.

HSE guidance states 85-90 dBA should look to protection of SNR20 or less. We try to offer a selection of hearing protection (plugs/muffs) but I am unable to find a helmet mounted muff at this "SNR" level.

Plugs come in various shapes for comfort but I have several employees who insist on muffs due to issues with ear infections.

Does anyone have any advice if it is the case of not being able to find a helmet mounted muff below SNR20.

Note in the spec below it has SNR20, thought the heading suggestes otherwise.

You may not be able to get as low as SNR20 but these Peltor ones I believe are 23 SNR (take no notice of price that is for 20 pr)

https://www.arco.co.uk/products/3M0594?s=1

I have no connection to arco other peltor suppliers are available

All things considered, in-ear buds are the obvious practical solution provided your employee can use them without discomfort. Once a week for a day or so shouldn't be an issue at all.

Why not ask ARCO for some samples? Howard Leight also do in-ear, SNR 37 dB.

There is a discussion/consultation about our current "delete" function in the updated forum for just such an issue as psoting on the wrong thread

And edit for when fat finger syndrome strikes (psoting)
