Hello.
Can anyone recommend a software package for this? Though I have scrolled the internet, I'd appreciate your experience of this.
I'm also interested in feedback from those of you who have already purchased a package regarding what works well and any additional tools you would have liked.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie
I presume you are referring to contractor's allocation of works e.g. reactive repairs and maintenance? If so, one of our term contractors has such a software package which uses a traffic light system to identify work orders. Not sure what it is called but I will ask our contractor.

Thanks RayRapp.
I'm actually asking about creating a database of company-approved Contractors including their qualifications/RAMS/Permits/Audits/etc/etc rather than a maintenance/works' log.
Thanks again,
Stephanie

I think the type of package you need will depend on how many approved contractors you have.
I have around 25 main contractors and I keep them in a simple spreadsheet, detailing the name of the company, address, main contact, PL & EL expiry and their contractor rating. They then have their own individual file where I store the RAMS, Insurance, Permits, Inductions etc. This works well for me due to the the number of contractors, but obviously the more you have, you will need a more robust system than a spreadsheet. I know you asked for a software package recommendation but I thought I would throw in the more affordable option :)

We have over 300 contractors on our list and we still use Excel. It works just as JCBushell states.
It does take some looking after once it gets that big, but it still works.

I agree with other posters in saying an excel spreadsheet should suffice. However, if you want something a bit more sophisticated why not consider spending the money on undertaking an access course. You will be able to build yourself a nice bespoke, if rudimentary, database yourself.

Thanks for your responses.
Having already discounted Excel and 'home-made' systems for several reasons, I was after information specifically about purchased software packages. I'll return to the internet.
Thanks again, Stephanie
