Hi all,

I have taken some light readings with a lux meter, however the lights in the area assesed are LEDs.  Does this mean that the reading has to be taken in Lumens? If so,

1) is there a calculation for converting

2) is there a table of recommendations for minimum/maximum lumens in various working environments.

Thanks

The two things are different measurements. The lumen is the unit of luminous flux, which is the measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source eg an LED lamp.

The lux is the SI unit of illuminance and luminous emittance, measuring luminous flux per unit area. It is equal to one lumen per square metre

So a light source emits a certain amount of lumens but an area is illuminated by a certain density of light measured in lux, which is what you measure with a lux meter.
