Afternoon All I sure this topic has been covered numerous times and would appreciate any comments, guidance and direction on trianing requirements. We have just taken on an additional contract and my manager has appointed a site supervisor within the company to the post of Trainer/Accessor, my concern is managemnt is under the impression that the following courses completed by the site supervisor for the position of Trainer/Accessor is sufficient for his new role ACAS Certificate of Attendance Essential Skills for Supervisors and Combined Level 3 Assessor/PTLLS Course Question: what recognised qualifications does he require for Manual Handling Training, FLT, Slinger, Banksman

Hiya, Im a trainer/assessor, but in logistics. I have the following quals. AET Award in Education and Training ( 4 day in classroom) ( new pttls qual) Diploma In Health and Safety (GRADIOSH) , work at height, Loler, Puwer, Advanced HGV Driving Assessor/Instructor, Manaul Handling, IOSH managing safety, FLT although i cant train FLT, im not RTTB accredited for FLT.
The AET, will allow you to train as a competant person in anything that you are trained in, with the exception of for example FLT, or those with a seperate governing body. Hope this helps Lizize Ps i still cant get a health and safety advisors job.

FLT needs an RTITB trainer's licence, manual handling doesn't necessarily require anything more than a train the trainer course but there is a City and Guilds manual handling trainer course out there that I am sending someone on soon. For most topics the general rule is see one, do one, teach one but that is different where NVQ assessment is concerned and for that you need more than just a course so you need to check that the person has actually taken the requisite number of people through relevant NVQ training and remember the assessor qualification only applies to a limited range of NVQs, not across the board.
