I am searching the internet for minimum widths for emergency services and although the information is good in terms of road design, I cannot find much in the way of roadworks/street works in residential/business developments that are not yet adopted by councils. Does anyone have this information or can point me in the right direction?

Contact your local fire service business engagement officer - you can find contact details on their website. They have minimum access widths based on likely nature of incident and how many / what type of appliances will be required. I have found them very helpful, we checked the width of our on site roadways with them.

Melissa - A good starting point is chapter 8 of the New Roads and Street Works Act along with Part B of the Building Regulations section 11. This gives you the width and turning circle requirements along with weight requirements of emergency vehicles.
