Our assurance person is insisting on asset referencing our fire alarm system to ensure it corresponds with the fire alarm service company,s information eg their device labels on the fire panels
Does anyone else go into this depth - I would have thought our device labels and the ID of the device would be sufficient.
Of course we have fire plans should we cross reference to these?

I think the suggestion would result in far too much detail for those who initially respond to an alarm and use the panel to check which area has been activated.
An early action is then for an emergency reponder (internal or external) to attend that area and check for obvious eidence of a fire. Much later on a technical person might need to check which specific sensor(s) was/was not activated - but that's part of the investigation phase, not the emergency response. They can have access to documents that give the detail that is suggested, it certainly shouldn't be on the alarm panel.

Our panels have an asset tag because we have an FM service contract with a third party providing all servicing, maintenance etc. If we have a problem we quote the asset tag number in the report and the FM company and contractor know exactly where to go, this is really helpful as we have multiple buildings on site and it would be easy for the contractor to be directed to the wrong place. I don't think you need to asset reference every single detector head, that has already been done in the system diagrams.
