The impact of the ‘occupational safety and safety’ concept for senior managers may be more readily appreciated when data published by the relevant UK regulator  are considered.

According to the last data for injuries and ill-health they published, a total of 609,000 non-fatal injuries in 2016-17, of which 175,000 resulted in people taking more than seven days off work.  As an indicator how improved interventions by OSH professionals may readily reduce the business and personal costs associated with these data,  the levels of  reported stress, depression or anxiety (560,000) and reported musculo-skeletal disorders (507,000) (Health and Safety Executive, 2017) leave a lot of scope for health promotion and stress management preventive coaching.

Recognition of interventions by IOSH members to reduce these data by even !% in the organisations in which they work could earn credit for effective contributions, especially where they result in less avoidable and time-wasting conflicts.
