Hi Folks
Just looking to pick someone's brains. Just started a new company involved in civil engineering, construction, factories and property etc. Have an issue with making sure that all employees receive their inductions and training in each piece of equipment. In some cases employees move about different sites. Problem I have is how you control that. Without going into it to much Im sure you have come across this problem. Is there any training package that can help or make life easier? We have looked into matrixes etc? I would appreciate any advice or guidance? Like to hear how you control training? etc. Thanks for your help Eddy

Hi Eddy not sure how much help this will be but I have looked at various options and decided that good ol' Excel is as good as anything, my problem was that getting the commercial packages tailored to do what I needed was very expensive and wouldn't be very flexible if things changed. You could also issue individual with a "passport" containing details of the training they have received so that they can take that with them to each site.

Hi Eddy
I think there could be a generic company induction which would provide a head's up for the different activities, sites, rules and management structure. For individual tasks and equipment you will need something more specific in the way of instruction, information and training. Exactly what depends on the size, geography, logistics and resources available.

Hi Eddy
Had the same issue in a previous employer. We had a site specific induction for each location to ensure we covered the locations specific requirements which would obviously differ given your range includes construction sites, factories, property. The first sections can be generic policy, committment, safety objectives etc and then site specific elements. As regards further training I would look to the CSCS / CSR competency framework. I do some "occassional" work with a fairly large quarry & road surfacing company and the framework provides the training matrix for operators..FLT's, telehandlers, 32Tonne dumpers, pavers, graders, etc. There is a card for most things.
Just my thoughts!
