Any ideas on what is best for 'safely' cutting used carpet into smaller pieces?
Thanks

How much carpet, what sized pieces, is the carpet in situ or has it been removed? First thought is a knife with retractable blade but without answers to the other questions its difficult to tell

The carpet is used carpet that is delivered in bulk from CA sites. It varies greatly in type, condition, size, rolled or unrolled, clean and not so clean etc. It is dropped into a warehouse in a pile and then at present largely hand sorted (trying to find a less physical way of sorting - see other post) to remove anything that isn't carpet before being shredded.
We've tried carpet knives and stanley knives but none are really up to the job.
Thanks

Hi, My company cut carpets on a daily basis. The safe practice and efficient practice is to turn the carpet over so the back is facing up and use a stanley knife or similar with retractable blade to cut through. The issue from cutting through the face of the carpet is the blade snags in the fibre/material of the carpet and can jump
