Hi all,

Is it permissible to store 1x small propane gas cylinder, such as the one pictured here

in your yellow flammable cabinet?

They fit hand held blow torches as used by plumbers. In my local DIY store, they are kept on open shelving, several of them together. I know I bought one just before Christmas. I suspect most plumbers just have them floating around in the backs of their vans still attached to the torch.

You need to do a DSEAR assessment in work.

Pretty sure limitations on storage generally apply when you have larger volumes of these substances. Our guys have a lockable container for the smaller cylinders, outside, secure and well ventilated.

Do bear in mind that Propane is stored as a liquid inside the cylinder, and if it leaks, 1 litre of liquid propane will expand to roughly 250 litres of gas, which is also heavier than air, and will therefore fill lower spaces first.
