We are seeing an increasing number of customers moving to double deck HGV trailers where the upper deck is fixed in position. This means that both lower and upper deck are of restricted height preventing an average height person from being able to stand upright and workers having to enter these tight areas, generally without fixed lighting, to unload  or load pallets.

The nature of the double deck trailer means that loaded pallets are not excessively heavy otherwise the maximum load weight for the vehicle would be reached with a single layer of pallets, but the space constraints, ergonomics of moving pallets in that restricted space and general working environment are of concern.

Has anyone else addressed this issue with these types of trailer and are there any loading / unloading equipment solutions that might be suitable?

Thanks in advance for any information.
