I've seen the forward facing lamps which work well in many circs.  The side red lamps have their merits.  As an observation on the video, the lamps are of absolutely no use if the operator ignores them - the ped was clearly too close to the rear swing when the FLT moved off  which seemed to be an operator rather than a ped issue - on both occasions the FLT appeared to move off when the ped was still in the 'red zone'   For places where peds & FLTs have to operate together then it has its merits, I am sure many would rather keep FLT operations completely separate to peds as the preferred means of dealing with the situation.
