Hi

Can you please share your opinion how often the fire alarm should bethoroughly inspected by qualified contractor? Is 6 monthly inspection necessary or is it only recommended in guidance?

Thank you

Most organisations stick to the guidance in BS 5839 & go for a maximum of every 6 months, however, a lot will depend on your Fire RA as you may want to carry it out more frequently depending on the type of system & the environment in which you work in.

I agree with the above but would add that the thorough examination and test should be done by a separate organisation to those who do the routine maintenance and servicing.  Also remember that you should test your fire alarm weekly or more frequently in a high risk situation.
