During a Face Fit Test either Qualitative or Quantitative HSE282/28 refers to reading the "Rainbow Passage"

Not ideal when dealing with construction workers, ie Bricklayers, plasterers who are not usually happy with such a request.

In my opinion, counting backwards is the better option, although frowned upon by Fit2Fit assessors.

Other factors include possible dyslexia and or foreign workers.

Surely it's time to update the protocol?

When I was trained to fit test, we were provided with the options of reading a passage or counting backwards.  The trainer made the same points as you have made here on why reading the passage would be problematic in some cases.  That was conclusive reason for me to stick to counting.
