Good Morning,

I have a fire safety requirements query;

The Landscaping company I work has is moving to a new yard which has a small lockup unit where we can store tools and equipment and carry out general tool maintenance and repairs. There are currently no fire safety systems in place and im looking to put in fire  fire estinguishers, but should we have any other systems in place? The building is very simple and is split into 2 units, one used by another company with a shared entry each unit being about 75sq m/ 800 sq ft. We won't be storing any hazardeous chemicals or substances though some of the power tools may have petrol/oil in.

Any help would be much appeciated.

Kind regards

Trevor

You need a couple of extinguishers and I would suggest a fire blanket if you are handling tools with petrol in.  That is all you really need as the units are too small for anything else to be of any real use.

Great, thanks for the info. Are Foam and CO2 ok for the extinguishers? We have 2 new 3L 8A foam extinguishers which are spare, will they suffice?

Cheers

Trevor
