I HAVE RECENTLY WRITTEN TO THE WORLD CYCLING GOVERNING BODY REF THE SAFETY CONCERNS I AND MANY OTHERS HAVE REF THE TREATMENT AND INTIMIDATION OF BRITISH CYCLIST COMPETING IN THIS YEARS TOUR DE FRANCE EVENT.

I have witnessed our cyclists being spat at pushed and on 1 occasion urine thrown at chris froome.

My believe is that their is an acceptable level of risk with this type of event however i feel the line has been crossed and the safety of our cyclists is at serious risk and its only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured no sports person should have to accept this type of behaviour. I have asked the cycling union what they plan to do to reduse the risk to them.I uunderstand most sports have an element of risk but not to this level.

I understand the financial rewards however this should never be a factor when it comes to safety. If this continues i feel that the governing body shold take serious action to the point of not entering the event as the same issues came up last year and will continue next year if nothing is done.I have also informed IOSH ref my concerns.

Regards

Michael
