Looking at approved document B of the building regualtion, table 2; it states that in an industrial building the maximum distance to travel in one direction is 25m; and if there are more than one exit 45m; now if I am in a warehouse, and in a racking aisle (dead end), I have to walk to the end of the racking before I have two exits available to use. So from table 2, my maximum distance allowed down the aisle would be 25m; and then to the nearest exit 20m (45-25), thus having a max travel distance of 45m; is this a correct interpretation of the requirements.

Hi Bazzer,

In addition to Building Regs there are publications to explain the requirements in more accessible language and with diagrams, if you look at https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/14882/fsra-factories-warehouses.pdf it is one of the series, they are available for a number of businesses and building uses.

Page 71 has the relevant info, depending on your fire risk level the distance could be 60 metres but you would need to be, or have advice from a competent person, to complete the Fire Risk Assessment.
