Hi all, I'm looking for a simple chart ideally that lists all of the legislation required for 2003 ISO:14001 Standard which we currently adhere to, updating to the 2015 version of the standard. As part of the documentation in place; there is a 'register of environmental legislation' which will be renamed; 'Compliance Register'.

The regulations/legislation currently in the documant are:

The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011

Environmental Protection Act 1990, Part II

Hazardous Waste Regulations Waste. Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2009 SI 507

Environmental Permitting (EP) Regulations 2010

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH Regulations)

The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections)(England and Wales)(Amendment) Regulations 2012

In this register of legislative commitments to environment I will also include any voluntary commitments to this register e.g. the company promises to plant trees, replace all plastics with eco packaging etc.

I really just need to see what changes there are in the above legislation so I can update this list and see if the updated legislation bears any issue to the current EMS in place, and how much I need to change/write/rewrite etc. Thanks in advance,

Bump... sorry, I really need a hand with this one, I know I posted a lot of examples, too many it seems, I'm just trying to find a table of changes and updates to legislation listed here to make sure I'm referencing the correct legislation and that I'm all up to date with the EMS.

I've only managed to find one update so far;

The Conservation (Natural Habitats etc.) Regulations 1994

NRW

Hedgerow Regulations 1997

NRW

They both now come under Natural Resources Wales not Countryside Council for Wales... It's tedious minor changes and if anybody has to hand an easy table to show the newer legislation that would be great... Thank you.

You might want to try the Legislation.Gov.UK website, which can be accessed at http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga you can then insert the title of legislation in the 'Title' box (remove the year) then click on 'Search', this will then provide you with the most up to date version of legislation.

Or you can use the "Changes affecting" tab on the same web site.

Can be a bit time consuming for older legislation as it lists by article (but then provides a hyperlink to the text)

Not sure what you are looking for exists unles some kind person has already done it and is prepared to hand it over. Even if someone does how do you know it is correct. You will likely have to do what the rest of us do and start looking at each one. I signed up to various e-mail bulletins and take part in regular webinars etc to keep abreast of what is changing. Some things just don't have a short cut I'm afraid.

I concur with Post 5.  Unfortunately, such a simple list of updates of environmental regulations etc is not so easily obtainable without trawling through web searches or paying money to a friendly information company/organisation.  They can help you identify what law is relevant to the scope of your activities and update you of any changes.

Wjp62 is correct that you can use the gov legislation website to check if the regulation you know about is current.  I discovered this portal by accident recently which gives current legislation from DEFRA

www.legislation.gov.uk%2Fid%2Fpublicbody%2Fea">http://www.legislation.gov.uk/defralex/lists?regulator=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.legislation.gov.uk%2Fid%2Fpublicbody%2Fea

(Cut and paste whole of the link if it doesn't work)

IOSH has an environmental and waste management group who may be able to assist

https://www.iosh.co.uk/Membership/Our-membership-network/Our-Groups/Environmental-and-Waste-Management-Group.aspx

By chance I stumbled across the energy legislation hub http://www.energylegislation.co.uk/ which appears to provide free info and updates (not looked closely at it)

Similarly, 360 environmental have free info see https://www.360environmental.co.uk/wastelegislation/

The EA used to have a helpful webpage that listed current and forthcoming environmental legislation, but since they were told to cut costs and transferred to gov.uk they tell you what you must do to comply with the law, but generally do not tell you what that bit of law is.  Some areas do list the actual regulations, but they are difficult to find.  (I was sure there was a page listing current regulations but now cannot find it.)

Netregs ( http://www.netregs.org.uk/ ) used to include England and Wales, but now just has Northern Ireland and Scotland (but will of course include legislation that covers the whole of the UK).

We use one company and it saves me hours when I update our legislation and compliance registers.  Look at companies such as Cedrec, ISO in a box and Barbour and others.  But if you don’t have a budget then it will be a slog.

And stating the obvious (for which I apologise in advance) Make sure you do not include irrelevant legislation.

Eg Hedgerow regs don’t apply to us – (only hedge we have separates the site from the industrial estate road!)
