Do you have a link for 3M? I couldn't find their face fit testing anywhere on their website....

Cheers

Arco sell face fit testing equipment with full instructions if that's any use to you. They also have specialist teams that can carry this out for you.

I also liked the training I had from 3M.

I seem to remember the way we came to have it was our Arco representative putting us in touch with a 3M representative.

3M also have some fitting videos for their various products on their website.  I have used this to supplement the fit test training when fit testing an unfamiliar mask.

Face fit testing needs to be carried out by a "competent" person.

This involves more than instruction sheets from the manufacturer.

HSE document 282/28 indicates that competence can be met by being Fit2fit accredited.

I carry out Face Fit testing (Qualitative) and in spite of my thoughts on the whole "Face Fit" minefield, I was trained by Moldex and have a basic certificate, have tested over 50 operatives with varying RPE.

I believe its the companies decision as to whether they want to judge competency by this method, or by having someone accredited by fit2fit (which is not compulsory) Again in my opinion, I am thorough, experienced and am fully aware of various masks/filters and based on COSHH Assessments can advise and select correct equipment.  I am competent, right?  I always recommend Moldex and try to bring in their half/full RPE when Im introducing this kind of protection. They provide excellent support videos on fitting, storing, maintenance.

Thoughts on enforcing shaving - when RPE has to be worn - to save potential cost of air fed?

Ken

If you are testing full face RPE using the qualitative method, then I certainly would question your competence...

We do not have the facility for quantative, I am competent in carrying out qualitative testing but as I mentioned, in my original post, "regardless of my thoughts on the face fitting" the majority of my testing is half masks and disposable.

I would still recommend attaining Fit2fit accreditation.
