Hi I am now a retired member, and I am just in the process of writing a simple risk assessment for my U3A Rowing group.

In preparation, I have completed some online risk assessment and safety modules from British Rowing and reviewed various reference documents including Rowsafe and some sample RA's from activity centers and rowing clubs, but much of the advice is for riskier forms of rowing than we undertake (i.e. less stable boats /sea / open water/young trainees etc...and the British rowing risk assessments are based on a fairly complex (though comprehensive) format.

I do not want to over document this, and I was just wondering if anyone had completed anything similar, for a voluntary water based activity or had any advice to help me Keep It Simple

Regards

Gus

I know that the British Canoe Union have a series of generic RA which may be a good starting point.  they have a wide membership covering all ages and ability.

RoSPA also have a watersports safety section, as they are aimed at normal people there advice is often more  pragmatic than some of the professional groups and sporting bodies..
