I have had interviews, I have done interviews and I tend to stick to applying where I don't waste anyone's time my own included. I think it's a damn shame when you would loose out because someone doesn't understand how to look for the best people, 10 years experience and part way through the qualification being asked for and it's just hope don't even bother applying bye. Wow I hope I never turn into that.

Kmason,

Not sure whether you thought that the title of your posting would elicit a response. You might want to start again with a different title?

But, on the content of your posting, I am going to constructively disagree.

While job ads often set out person specifications that are sometimes unnecessary, over hopeful or simply ignorant, it's quite possible that for at least some of the interviews you have been to, those who set the bar may have had very good reasons to do so.

You use the word "manager" which might mean guiding someone lower down their learning curve towards the level of qualification that you are working to. More difficult to manage someone developing, if you have not got to that stage yourself.

Similarly, you might be applying for a role where the person spec is defined as much by a potential employer's clients as by the employer itself. Sometimes this might link to what regulator or industry guidance expects, e.g. in the field of the roles established by CDM.

Where you do not tick all the boxes, then you may perhaps need to work out how best to explain to a recruiter why you have other qualities that offset missing one box. Simply ranting that recruiters set a bar to be reached is not helpful to you job search.
