Hi, For the lifting guys: We are carrying out crane lifting activities near a public road. We will be using a crane with a boom length of 130 Meters, so will have a significant exlusion zone in place (143 Meters). We have an issue because the lifting area is near a public road, and even for one of the work areas it is near a busy motorway.

Has anyone had this issue bfore, and how do you control it? We normally work in very rural areas so we normally do not have this issue. We are intending to contact the authorities if we require to close the quiet public road when lifting, but for the Motorway I do not know how we will get around it.

The crane company SHOULD be used to dealing with such issues.

....and their lift plan should set out how the work will NOT put the neighbours at unreasonable risk - doesn't matter if the neighbour is the person living in a cottage (who doesn't understand the rules) or the utilities or highway operator (who should).

If you need a road closure or other restriction, the highway operator will want plenty of notice.
