Hi

I am getting myself tied up in knots. We are installing a project containing magnets to remove metallic inclusions from produced materials. Please can someone advise if the control of electromagnetic fields at work regs apply to permemant magnets approx 12000 gauss?

I am assuming that you have looked at HSG 281. As the magnets are permanent and there are no changes in the field, the frequency of the filed is effectively zero and so the risk posed by the magnets is low. You do need to assess the risk that a) magnets might attract metal objects and so cause injuries and b)  that they might have an effect on people with metal implants including pace makers.
